A Franconian winegrower with the name "Östreicher", that can sometimes lead to irritation. Admittedly, it was more on the second bottle of wine. With a friend in a Munich vinotheque, we left the wine selection to the lady advising us. "She would recommend the Austrian", was the audible message. Since, at least in South Tyrol, there is a close relationship with grapes originally positioned as Franconian, such as Sylvaner, there was admittedly a certain irritation. The recommendation was a real revelation and this remained in the memory. Terms that are googled not spelt correctly by name rarely lead to the desired search result, and this was also the case here. Thanks to a certain persistence, we were nevertheless able to locate the winery. Richard Östreicher's wines are a revelation. Rooted in the region, the winemaker knows how to produce wines that are very terroir-related, strong in character and distinctive in the result. This is only possible with passion. In the meantime, highly decorated, one can sum up that this path has been worthwhile for the winemaker as well as for the connoisseur - and here we do not mean the material aspect! We recommend a visit to this winery by appointment. Although the wines are rather in the upper price segment, you will be received there very personally and very warmly. More at turtlesurf eu.
